Technical information of PCI RISERS
baradaproducts.com
When a manufacturer produces computers, servers or any product that uses a backplane
with PCI connectors, he may want to add peripheral cards for special functions.
The normal way to add these cards is to insert them in the PCI connectors. This is good if
the chassis is normal size that would accept the height of the peripheral card.
However if the chassis is 1U or 2U high, the card will not fit, so he needs to use a RISER,
which is a right angle adapter, that inserts the peripheral card in parallel with the
motherboard.
BARADA PRODUCTS INC. MANUFACTURES THESE RISERS.
There are different types of risers: 1-slot risers, 2-slot risers and 3-slot risers.
There are risers where the components of the peripheral card face down, towards the
mother board, and other risers where the components of the peripheral card face up,
away from the motherboard.
The European Union has adopted a new standard to restrict the use of hasardous
substances. All of Barada's PCI risers can be
manufactured to comply with the RoHS standard.
